Spicy Ippolito Orange Margarita

This incredible cocktail is sure to make everyone come back for seconds

We love creating different cocktails that excite the eye and taste buds. When buying tequila, the #1 tip is to look for ones that are made with 100% agave, which guarantees maximum flavour and top quality.

Let's make it!

Makes 3 cocktails

- 150ml tequila or mezcal

- 150ml sparkling water

- 80ml sugar syrup (see bottom note on how to prepare a simple syrup)

- 4 blood or ippolito oranges

- 2 limes

- 3 teaspoons granulated sugar

- 1 teaspoon chilli powder

- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt

To serve:

- 1 jalapeno pepper

- Sprigs of mint to taste

- Ice

  1. Juice 3 1/2 oranges and both limes (we will save half an orange to decorate the glasses).

  2. Combine the citrus juice with the sugar syrup and tequila.

  3. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar, chilli powder and salt. Pour the mixture onto a small shallow plate.

  4. Take 3 glasses and a wedge of orange or lime. Lightly squeeze and drag the wedge around the rim of each glass.

  5. Turn each glass upside down and dip the rims into the sugar, salt and chilli mixture.

  6. Add 3 to 4 ice cubes to each glass and a slice of orange if desired. Pour the cocktail mix equally between the glasses.

  7. Finish with slices of jalapeno pepper, a sprig of mint on each glass and serve

Note: To make a simple sugar syrup, combine equal parts of sugar and water (for this recipe, I used 1/2 cup of each and had some leftover) into a small saucepan and cook on low heat until the sugar is fully dissolved.
